My passion for interior design started long before I knew interior design was a real profession. I started redecorating my parents' home when I was 8. They would come home from work to find all the furniture rearranged every few months. When I was in college, the look of my apartments seem to transform with every semester, my curtains and sheets changing faster than my roommates' hairstyles. That passionate recognition of the power of our surroundings to affect us has continued to grow, evolve and refine itself over the years. If I could give you a quick motto it would be this: "It's what's on the inside that counts' so let me help you redecorate what's inside." -Christine Duong

Christine Duong is a Certified Interior Designer in the State of California and Allied Member of the American Society of Interior Designers (ASID). She studied at the University of California at Los Angeles in Interior Architectural Design and has more than 20 years in the industry. She has worked for firms specializing in hospitality and high-end residential. Independently, she has completed residential and commercial projects in Los Angeles, San Francisco, Honolulu, London & Mykonos.

Christine earned her undergraduate degree in Business Marketing & Information Systems from the University of Southern California. In addition to her design work, Christine has worked in business consulting, corporate accounting and commercial property management. However, after her birthday on September 11, 2001, she decided life was too short to ignore one's deepest callings, so she left her tailored suits behind and returned full time to her passion for interior design.

Christine's method is to mix up cultures, color palettes, period styles, innovative new materials and trusted reliable classics. Her inclusive aesthetic is a reflection of her experience. She was born Vietnam, raised in Hawaii, traveled to 17 countries and more than 15 states, so she brings with her the multicultural influences that have formed her broad and creative view of design.

Joie de vivre

Duong Designs' philosophy aims at creating environments that promote a daily sense of joie de vivre. We utilize that philosophy to capture, conceptualize and execute a design that reflects your uniqueness. The joy of living includes stimulating all the senses. Great design isn't just visual. It is a visceral experience that addresses itself to each of your separate senses. It understands the pleasure inducing feel of bare feet on the chunky piles of a beautifully woven Merino wool rug can invigorate your mornings like a soothing foot massage—even more so if that sensation is accompanied with others, like the scent of freshly cut lilies in a exquisitely hand-blown Murano vase. Good design bathes the senses in delight—and creates an atmosphere in which joy may flourish.

"Be daring,
be different,
be impractical,
be anything that
will assert integrity
of purpose and
vision against
the play-it-safers,
the creatures of
the commonplace,
the slaves of
the ordinary." -Cecil Beaton
